Halloween is coming and me and Jill are happy to present to you our Halloween event, Owloween! Everyday from October 24th to October 30th, we'll post a new owl description to our bird guide! On Halloween, we'll post a description for a very special owl and the very first Junior Ornithologists game! Bird Spotlight and What Bird alone will continue through October, and regular posting will resume in November. Check back every day starting the 24th to see what's new!
-Rose LAST WEEK'S BIRD WAS: The Rufous Hummingbird! That was a tough one! No one sent in the right answer, but an anonymous Junior Ornithologist sent in that they thought it was a Ruby Throated Hummingbird! Good guess! Hello and welcome to our post series, What Bird! Every Saturday, an image of a bird is posted, and you have the opportunity to send in your best guess about what the bird is by choosing from four options! Here are the rules: 1. Do not search google for the image. 2. Use only allaboutbirds.org or any bird field guide to identify the bird. 3. Have Fun! +Here's a tip to identifying this week's bird: Its feathers are iridescent, so they might look like they are colors that they aren't really! This week's battle of the birds pair is Scarlet Tanager vs. Baltimore Oriole. Poll on your favorite bird below! |
